Ah the notorious John Dillinger played by Johnny Depp. The only thing this movie lacked (besides Johnny Depp nude scenes) was a good introduction. You needed to have a basic understanding of what was going on at this time in history or you may be lost. The writers seemed to only touched on what made John Dillinger famous in the first place and spent more time 'romanticizing' him. There were 3 stories at the same time John Dillinger the criminal, the lover, and the man who almost single-handedly caused a need for the FBI to be created.
Johnny Depp does an excellant job creating Dillinger as a character. He is the perfect anti-hero. You grow to love him and appreciate what Dillinger went through and his justification for his actions. You just about forget that he was a bank robber and a murderer.
You also get a appreciation on how far the justice system has come in the last 75 years or so. The no doubt true accounts of the treatment of criminals is somewhat horrific.
Overall I really enjoyed this movie and I would recommend it. Just google John Dillinger before watching it if you are not sure who he is or what he did. You will be able to follow along much better.

This is kind of surprising as I thought that this was a fictional character. Thanks for the heads up tho - if I watch this film I maybe will wiki him beforehand since I thought he wasn't real.
